Year 4
teachers facilitate learning by focusing on and establishing meaningful and
caring relationships with their students, creating positive learning
environments in and out of the classroom. Students are encouraged
to take ownership of their learning whilst continuing with the skills of
teamwork and peer learning opportunities.
During
Year 4, the curriculum broadens out further from the earlier years’ focus on
literacy and numeracy. Key Learning Area (KLA) rotations take place where students are taught by subject specialists who
aim to inspire a curiosity and love for the subject, whilst providing solid
foundations in each of these curriculum areas. Differentiated focus groups also
take place for key concept areas in Maths and English.
Learning
experiences throughout each key area are underpinned and enhanced through
alignment with the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards and by providing
rich and engaging teaching and learning opportunities. Through this process, students continue to set, develop and monitor their
personal learning goals in line with curriculum objectives.
A highlight in Year 4 is
our school camp where students develop independence and resilience skills and
explore an understanding of themselves and others through team building
opportunities.
As always, Year 4 students
are encouraged to follow Teamwork, Ownership, Participation and Sensitivity (TOPS) values.
