Starting Prep is an exciting milestone for children and their families.
At Ormiston State School, we provide a welcoming, supportive and engaging learning environment where children develop confidence, build friendships and establish strong foundations for learning.
When can my child start Prep?
Prep is the first year of schooling in Queensland. Children are eligible to commence Prep in the year they turn five by 30 June.
Use the Department of Education's Prep ready reckoner to check when your child is eligible to start school.
Preparing for Prep
We understand the importance of a positive start to school and provide opportunities for children and families to become familiar with our school, staff and learning environment.
Our Prep transition and orientation activities help children feel confident, connected and ready for their first day of school.
Information about upcoming Prep transition activities will be shared with families throughout the year.
Enrolling in Prep
We welcome enrolment enquiries from families living both within and outside our school catchment.
All Prep enrolments are managed through our school's enrolment process, including out-of-catchment applications.

We look forward to welcoming our newest learners and their families to Ormiston State School!
