Ormiston State School provides your child with an amazing start to their first year of formal schooling. A school prospectus (PDF, 1084KB) provides parents with important information about school life of a prep student.

Prospective parents of prep enrolments are asked to view the Department's prep ready reckoner calculator to determine when your child can commence their preparatory year.

Review the school’s  enrolment management plan together with the catchment map, as these conditions affects your eligibility to enrol at our school.

All students living within the defined catchment area are automatically entitled to enrol at Ormiston State School.

Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at Ormiston State School are required to provide an original Australian birth certificate or Australian passport, as well as proof that the student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area.   If your child was not born in Australia, please contact the school to discuss the required documentation.  Proof of current residency at the address indicated can be provided by way of one of the following:

  • One primary source – current lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional sale agreement AND
  • One secondary source – a utility bill (e.g electricity, gas) showing the same address and parent's/legal guardian's name

If your child is age appropriate, you live in the identified catchment area and you wish to proceed with an enrolment application, then complete the enrolment form (PDF, 441KB) and return the completed enrolment form and supporting documentation to the office at any time.

If you do not reside in the identified catchment area, you can register your interest for a possible out of catchment enrolment via the Register for Prep button below.  No forms will be accepted over the counter at the administration office.

The Register for Prep 2025 button will go live on our school website from 9am on Monday 15 April 2024. If any out of catchment enrolments are considered, they will be prioritised in the order in which interest was registered via the link only, and parents / carers will be contacted and asked to submit the application form and supporting documents.

Confirmation of successful requests for out of catchment enrolment will occur early in Term 4.  Class placement will be identified prior to our Transition day in the last week of Term 4.
