Parents & Citizens Association

Parental interest has a profound influence on children’s learning success. Joining the P&C is one of the best ways to show your children how much you value their education and how committed you are to helping our students and school community. The role of Ormiston's P&C (PDF, 348 KB) is active and important.

The OSS P&C uses an email Mailing List for sharing information and activities regarding the P&C.  If you would like to join the Mailing List please send an email to pandcsecretary@ormistonss.eq.edu.au and include Mailing List in the subject line.

Strategic intent

For the period 2023/2024, the activities of the Ormiston State School P&C will focus on:

Thinking – supporting the school by contributing to additional learning programs, learning resources, and contemporary technologies.

Opportunities – assisting the school to create wider opportunities for students; and a safe and comfortable environment that allows and encourages them to develop in many ways - academically, physically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.

Partnerships – building and maintaining a strong relationship between the school and the community, including partnerships with individuals and organisations with complementary aims and principles.

Sustainability – enhancing the environmental, financial, and operational sustainability of the school, including the P&C operations.

The strategic intent of the P&C is clearly aimed at supporting the direction of the school and enhancing the learning opportunities for all students.

P&C meetings

The P&C meets once a month on a Monday night. Meetings start at 6.30 pm and are usually held in the Science Room (C Block). Any change to the location or meeting date is identified in the newsletter the week prior to the meeting.

How can I raise an issue with the P&C?

The best way to raise an issue is to come along to a meeting yourself. If possible, please let the Secretary know ahead of time what you would like to talk about and it can be added to the agenda.  We aim to keep the meetings as effective and short as possible so prior notice regarding topics helps us keep to this objective.

We do realize that not everyone is able to attend the meetings. You can also raise issues by either leaving a note in the blue tray at the front reception desk to the office, or by sending an email to the secretary. Alternatively, you can speak to one of the P&C committee members when you see them at the school.
