Ormiston is located approximately 25km east-south-east of Brisbane. Ormiston is a leafy suburb with a pleasant unhurried lifestyle. Ormiston has a small population of urban koalas and other wildlife. Traditionally a farming community, Ormiston is now a very popular residential area.
Our school has a strong connection with the community. Members of the community are active within our school through the operation of the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C), tuckshop, volunteers in classroom or during working bees. Ormiston State School believes that strong partnerships with the school community enhances the opportunities for our students.
Chaplaincy
Ormiston State School's chaplaincy service aims to helps to support the social and emotional wellbeing of our students and community. Accessing the chaplaincy service is voluntary and this service is one component of our school's support system. Parental consent for the chaplaincy program is obtained upon enrolment, or upon request. Additional information about the school's chaplaincy service may be obtained from the office or by contact the Deputy Principal.
The chaplain operates under the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program, which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.
Volunteering
Volunteers are always welcome as it helps foster a partnership between school, home and the community. Volunteers at schools need to hold a Blue Card prior to commencing work, however, if the volunteer is a parent of a child at the school, a Blue Card is not needed. All volunteers need to complete the required volunteer form prior to commence their work. Contact the school office for further information.
